The AbitibiBowater Mill in Snowflake,
Arizona installed the Ekho Event Management
System from Inexcon Technologies, Inc.
(iTi) in February of 2007. After 4
days of training and installation by
the iTi team, the Snowflake team is
seeing many advantages from their investment.
In order to provide the best customer
service to their customers, Snowflake
needed to connect their new Majiq Roll
Tracking System to their Quality lab. Using Ekho they
were able to connect their orders to
roll quality and produce customer COA’s automatically. Before installing
Ekho this was a manual process. The
Snowflake team rapidly accomplished the transition to an automatic
COA process that emails the quality
information to the customer. Ryland
Bingham, the Ekho team leader,
attributed the team’s rapid
progress to excellent support from iTi
and ease of use of the Ekho system.
The Ekho System has helped to reduce the amount of manual
research and work by the mill staff
in supporting their customers.
Managing and entering information from the control rooms and other areas of the mill was causing difficulties for the mill. Ekho provides this functionality and now the Snowflake team has built many log sheets and continues to expand the data collection process through out the mill. Ryland, says that Ekho has provided a very easy and configurable process for building these log sheets which has lead to wide spread use of system. The easy capture of additional information through the log sheets and the fast analytical capability of the quality interface to Majiq, has helped the mill realize a good return on their investment. Everyone looks to the future as the real payoff will come in the next few months.
