Tembec’s Skookumchuck mill uses Ekho solutions to ensure data traceability and quality management
Tembec’s Crestbrook mill in Skookumchuck,
British Columbia, is one of the company’s
three facilities in Canada that make
northern bleached softwood kraft.
It uses many of the performance tools
in the Ekho family to enter and manage
production data in both manual and
automatic modes, and to ensure quick
and accurate traceability. The ITI
solutions also enable it to monitor
the quality of every batch of pulp
it makes, which is a critical factor
for this mill, with its very high
product quality standards. The Crestbrook
mill installed the Spek
solution for real-time monitoring
and control
of production and quality settings,
the Track
solution for tracing events and the
origin of finished batches,
and the Look
report manager.
The Skookumchuck mill produces 650 metric tons per day of premium grade softwood pulp, which is used to make high-grade paper products. Interior Mountain fibres that the mill produces consists mainly of pine and spruce, which boast special properties in terms of making freesheet, tissue and towelling, and paperboard, as well as pulp for mechanical grades papers and specialty pulp.
